Wood Type and Finish

Our bench with shoe shelf is made from Kiln-Dried timber that has a moisture content similar to that in an average home to reduce cracking and splitting.  We lovingly sand the wood to make sure it is smooth to the touch but at the same time we try to maintain the Rustic look and feel so you see the charm of the wood which includes unique grain patterns, saw marks and small cracks which all add to the character.

The wood is finished in a choice of 5 colours of FIDDES Hard wax Oil which provides excellent protection to the wood as well as a nice feel to it. Unlike rubbed in wax this product soaks into the wood and stops the risk of the wax coming off on clothes etc. A clear coat is added over the top of the colour and then we buff it for a nice sheen.

This can be done to revitalise the wood at any stage of its life.
